As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager to join our team in a full-time, long term, salaried role based in Emeryville, CA. This position will have direct report(s) with quality and manufacturing responsibilities, interact directly with all departments, and report to the SVP of Supply Chain.




  • Implement, monitor, and enforce Food Safety and Quality Assurance systems, policies, documentation, procedures, specifications, and standards internally and externally
  • Deliver results on assigned company key performance indicators
  • Develop, train, and lead direct report(s) delivering on food quality and manufacturing initiatives
  • Complete performance appraisals and development plans for direct reports
  • Manage the Food Safety Plan
  • Forecast, manage and deliver on the annual Quality Assurance operating expense budget
  • Insure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Insure compliance with all QA-related certifications. Maintain and organize documentation as required.
  • Drive consumer feedback results improvement
  • Deliver on Product Launch / Product Initiative responsibilities
  • Maintain positive relationships with partners, suppliers, vendors and support on-site and off-site audits as needed. Lead critical supplier onboarding processes.
  • Drive process and product quality improvement
  • Lead problem solving processes and implement corrective actions


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Quality, Food Science or Science-related field
  • 5 years of QA leadership experience in a Food & Beverage environment (natural, plant-based industry preferred)
  • Previous team leadership and people management experience
  • FDA, FSMA, HACCP, HARPC, GMP, PCQI, ISO, and SQF compliance and certification experience
  • Ability to travel to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, service providers, events, and training
