As we expand, we are seeking an Area Marketing Manager to join our team in a full-time, contractor role based out of Southern California. This person will bring our brand to life on the ground in this critical beverage market, by driving this new region with a creative, innovative approach that supports the growth of REBBL and drives in-store velocity in the Southern California region specifically. This person will oversee REBBL’s demos, events, and brand ambassadors within the Southern California area, and will interact with the Sales Department, the Community Manager, and report to the National Field Marketing Manager.

 

Essentials for this role:

  • You are passionate about curating and executing events.
  • You are ready to problem solve and “get into the weeds” in order to make the magic happen at activations in Southern California area, and the East Coast as needed.
  • You have excellent attention to detail, and can manage a budget for various areas of the marketing department (demos, events, Brand Ambassadors, etc.)
  • You are passionate about living a natural lifestyle, and are excited and willing to immerse yourself even deeper into the Plant Queendom.
  • You understand the Southern California consumer to find the right supporting activities for the brand. You learn from being in the field and can translate those learning’s into appropriate in-market actions.  You can share those learnings thoughtfully with the national team as they pertain to the bigger picture of the brands.
  • You are excellent at influencing people and able to work in tight partnership with Sales and the local DSD distributor to make Southern California a key growth market for the brand.
  • You have a strong understanding of technology as it pertains the role - you “get” Excel, the internet, and can navigate with different programs/platforms (e.g. Google Docs for tracking, Expensify for expense reports, Bill.com, etc.)
  • You ask good questions, but also take initiative and are resourceful when things need to get done
  • You perform very well under pressure, can balance multiple things on your plate at once, and constantly re-prioritize tasks as needed
  • You strive to improve processes and systems
  • You have a positive attitude when faced with challenges, and have a warm, supportive, and enthusiastic mentality when leading our Specialists & Ambassadors.
  • You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment, and are ready to wear multiple hats as needed.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Support and manage the Southern California team of passionate, motivated Demo/Event Specialists, and provide the resources for them to succeed in their role on-the-ground at retail and with event execution
  • Recruit, hire, and on-board new Specialists as needed
  • Guide in-store event strategy of demos and work with Sales to support promotions and highest in-store-traffic periods
  • Review and analyze demo reports regularly, track promotional data, gather consumer insights, and communicate pertinent information to Sales
  • Manage relationships with our Southern California retail partners to coordinate rounds of store-performed demos as needed (e.g Whole Foods, Pavilions, etc.)
  • Manage a local marketing budget for Specialists’ events and demos, local ambassadors, and other sponsorships & partnerships in the territory
  • Coordinate innovative, engaging activations ranging from large-scale festivals to high-touch engagements, with the support of Specialists, Brand Ambassadors and in partnership with event hosts, festival coordinators, and/or event support agency
  • Work closely with National FMM and local sales team to establish and implement successful demo and marketing programs
  • Work closely with National FMM and Community Manager to integrate digital initiatives into field marketing strategy where it makes sense (e.g. host a user-generated content giveaway on Instagram at an activation, or promote a special in-store event via a boosted Facebook campaign).
  • Manage and process payroll and expenses for Specialists, contractors, and event partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years prior experience in field marketing, brand management, and/or brand ambassador work preferred
  • Experience running marketing programs and effectively managing teams and budgets
  • Responsible, self-motivated, dependable, and engaging
  • Outgoing and personable, capable of nurturing relationships as well as engaging strangers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 40lbs

Job Specifics:

  • Full-time, contractor position, located in Southern California (Los Angeles/ Orange County)
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently and remotely; our team is primarily located in Emeryville, CA
  • 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to be on the road and constantly to support market activations
  • Ability to plan and organize (frequently-changing) schedule according to travel, planning & event priorities
  • Strong working knowledge of partner and vendor contract development and special event permitting
  • Exceptional leadership experience with the ability to lead and influence team member
  • Experience building and maintaining partnerships
